Gregory Ray
MD, Medical Director
Dr. Gregory Ray was named RTI Surgical’s Medical Director in October 2022. Prior to joining the company, he served as the Medical Director for Artivion (formerly CryoLife) for 19 years. Before joining Artivion he served as Laboratory Medical Director and Staff Pathologist in four Atlanta-area community hospitals. He is also the Medical Director of Plasma Services at ADMA BioCenters and Laboratory Director at Eurofins DPT (formerly VRL) Laboratories in Atlanta and Minneapolis.
Dr. Ray is a past Chair of the American Association of Tissue Banks Physicians’ Council and served on the AATB Board of Governors and the AATB Standards and Credentialing Committees.
Dr. Ray earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Oglethorpe University and his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed a fellowship in molecular pathology at the Institute for Molecular Medicine and Genetics at MCG and completed postgraduate training in Anatomic Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and was Chief Resident at Emory University.
He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with a special interest in cardiovascular pathology. He is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and a member of the Society of Cardiovascular Pathology.
