Nancy Quick

Nancy Quick served in the United States Navy and later joined the reserves after her tour of duty was complete. In her early 40s, while helping care for her elderly parents, Nancy was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis.

“Her condition made it really hard for her to breathe, and Nancy was added to the national waiting list for a lung transplant. After learning about donation she decided that if anything happened to her she would want to be a donor herself,” says Nancy’s sister Deborah.

Nancy remained very positive, loving and caring during her illness. She never received a transplant and died in February 2002 from complications related to the pulmonary fibrosis.

“Our whole family misses her every day,” Deborah says. “Nancy had a way of making everyone feel special and we’re thankful that we were able to carry out her wish to help others.”
