Kathleen Southard

Kathleen Southard was a very caring educator, always wanting to help others in need with a deep love for education. She passed away from a sudden heart attack at the age of 60. “Kathleen worked in education all her life,” said Larry Southard, Kathleen’s husband.

After she passed away, an ICU nurse asked if they had considered tissue donation before. “My children embraced the idea and after some discussion, I did also,” Larry said. “It seemed a way that she could continue to help others.”

After making the donation, Larry said it gave his family a sense of value in the situation. “In some way, it may have made easier to say goodbye knowing that she was helping others,” he said. “Her love just seems to go on.”
