Spinal Fusion

Examples: Cervical Spine Fusion, Lumbar Spine Fusion

Intervertebral discs are the spine’s shock absorbers, keeping the individual vertebrae from coming in direct contact with each other. If the discs suffer trauma or degenerate, thin, or herniate, the vertebrae can rub together, causing pain and nerve compression. Your doctor may recommend a spinal fusion using a biologic implant as treatment.

Biologic implants are a natural alternative to synthetic and metal implants, and unlike synthetic and metal implants, biologic implants incorporate into the patient’s body.

It is important to discuss questions or concerns with your physician before your surgery.
