Brian K. Hutchison, Chairman and CEO
Brian Hutchison was named chairman and chief executive officer for RTI Biologics in February
2008. He joined RTI in December 2001 as president and CEO and was elected chairman of the board
of directors in December 2002.
In his role at RTI, Hutchison oversees all aspects of the company
and its affiliates. He serves on the board of directors for the United Way of North Central
Florida.
Hutchison spent the previous 12 years with Stryker Corporation, based in Kalamazoo,
Mich. He served most recently as vice president, worldwide product development and distribution.
A native of Muskegon, Mich., Hutchison earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from
Grand Valley State University in 1981. He also completed the Program for Management Development
from Harvard Business School in 1995.

Guy L. Mayer, President
Guy Mayer was named president for RTI Biologics in February 2008. He joined Tutogen Medical as
president and chief executive officer in January 2005. In his role at RTI Biologics, Mayer oversees
all aspects of marketing and distribution through medical device companies.
Prior to Tutogen, Guy served for two years as chairman and CEO of Visen Medical, a private
biotech company focused on Molecular Imaging technologies. Prior to Visen, he served three years
as president and CEO of ETEX Corporation, a private biomedical company based in Cambridge,
Mass. For 13 years prior to joining ETEX, Mayer held various senior positions at Zimmer Inc., then
a division of Bristol Myers Squibb, with sales in excess of $1.2 billion.
Guy is a graduate of the University of Ottawa and currently serves on the Board of Directors of
Spire Corporation, a public company, as well as a number of private companies.

Thomas F. Rose, Executive Vice President and CFO
Tom Rose was named executive vice president and chief financial officer for RTI Biologics in
February 2008. He also serves as corporate secretary to the board of directors. Rose joined RTI
as vice president and CFO in May 2002. He oversees all financial aspects of RTI and its
affiliates striving for the development of best-in-class systems and operating procedures.
Rose served the previous 10 years as vice president and chief financial officer at A.M. Todd
Group, based in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Rose earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Michigan University
in Kalamazoo. He has also completed numerous executive education courses at University of
Michigan and Northwestern University focusing on strategy and organizational issues.

Roger W. Rose, RTI Donor Services and Executive Vice President, Sports Medicine
Roger Rose was named president of RTI Donor Services in February 2008. He was named
executive vice president with a focus on sports medicine of RTI in August 2004. He oversees all
aspects of the organization’s not-for-profit affiliate, RTI Donor Services, and the distribution
of donated tissue back into the community. He is committed to ensuring a meaningful
connection between the donation and transplantation communities.
Rose joined RTI as vice president of donor services in October 2002 and assumed additional
responsibility for distribution and marketing in October 2003. Prior to this, Rose spent seven
years at Stryker Corporation based in Kalamazoo, Mich., where he held leadership positions
in sales and marketing in both the medical and orthopedic divisions.
Rose earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Michigan University
in Kalamazoo and completed numerous executive education courses at UCLA, University of Michigan
and Harvard Business School, focusing on finance, leadership, medical marketing, negotiation and
strategy.

Caroline A. Hartill, Chief Scientific Officer and Vice President, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs
Carrie Hartill was named chief scientific officer in March 2007. She joined RTI in November
2001 and was named vice president of quality assurance and regulatory affairs in January 2003.
In her role at RTI, Hartill oversees all scientific research, quality assurance, regulatory
affairs and clinical studies. She serves as a board member for BioFlorida and is a member of
the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed). She also serves on the Accreditation
Committee and the Strategic Planning Task Force of the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB).
For 18 years prior, she worked in the areas of technology development and market approvals as
a freelance consultant working with many major and start-up biotechnology and medical device
companies worldwide.
Hartill earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in health sciences from Birmingham University
Medical School in England, as well as a master’s degree in management from the University of
Wolverhampton in England.

Claude O. Pering, Vice President
Claude Pering was named vice president for RTI Biologics in February 2008. He joined Tutogen
Medical as vice president of U.S. operations.
Prior to Tutogen, Pering served three years as principal of CoperTech, LLC, providing consulting
services to client companies in the medical device, biotechnology and pharmaceutical
industries. Pering has more than 20 years experience holding leadership positions with
biotechnology, orthopedic and medical device companies.
In his role at RTI, Pering is focused primarily on overseeing all aspects the integration between
Tutogen Medical and Regeneration Technologies. Pering earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry,
microbiology and psychology from Drury University in Springfield, Mo. and a master’s degree in
business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind.

Carolyn Shaffer, Vice President, Human Resources & Organizational Development
Shaffer was named vice president of human resources and organizational development in March
2007. Previously, she served as director of human resources and organizational development since
May 2003. She joined RTI as manager of training in 1999. Prior to joining the company, she owned
a private consulting practice with the primary focus of designing and conducting employee training
programs. Prior to that, Shaffer served in various leadership roles for GE Capital.
In her role at RTI Biologics, Shaffer oversees all human resource aspects of the company, as
well as strategizes and develops the growing workforce.
Shaffer earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Fairfield University and a master’s degree
in business administration from the University of Nebraska. She is also a graduate of GE’s
Financial Management program.

L. Robert Johnston, Jr., Vice President, Finance
Bob Johnston was named vice president of finance for RTI Biologics in February 2008.
He joined Tutogen Medical as chief financial officer and secretary in 2006. Prior to joining
Tutogen, Johnston served two years as chief financial officer of Power Medical Interventions,
a privately held medical device company providing surgical stapling products. He has many years
of experience in financial leadership positions working with a number of life science,
pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Johnston earned a bachelor’s degree in history and Spanish from the University of Virginia and a
master’s degree in business administration from the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business
Administration, University of Virginia.

Robby Lane, Vice President, Spine & Orthopedics
Robby Lane was named vice president, spine and orthopedics for RTI Biologics in February
2008. He joined RTI in March 2006 as director of marketing and subsequently served as general
manager of the company’s spine and orthopedics division. Previous to RTI, Lane spent five years
with DeRoyal Industries as vice president of sales and marketing, and prior to that he served
as business manager for hips at Stryker Corporation.
In his role with RTI, Lane oversees business and product development for RTI’s distributors in the
orthopedic and spine segments.
A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Lane earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology from the University
of Tennessee. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee.

Rod Allen, Vice President, Sports Medicine
Rod Allen was named vice president, sports medicine for RTI Biologics in February 2008.
He joined RTI in September 2003 as director of business development with a focus in sports
medicine. Subsequently, Allen served as executive director of U.S. distribution, then as general
manager, sports medicine. Prior to joining RTI, Allen spent 10 years in business development and
sales and marketing roles in a variety of large high-tech and early-stage medical device
companies, most recently as director of business development at UUNET Technologies.
In his current role at RTI Biologics, Allen oversees all aspects of the company’s sports medicine
division, including business development, product development, marketing and customer service.
He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine corporate advisory group.
A native of Chicago, Allen earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Drake University
and a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and marketing,
from the University of Maryland - College Park.

David C. Greenspan, Ph.D., Vice President, Product Development
Dr. David Greenspan was named vice president, product engineering for RTI Biologics in
February 2008. He joined Tutogen Medical as vice president, global research and development
in March 2007. Prior to joining Tutogen Medical, Dr. Greenspan was vice president, research and
development for NovaMin Technologies, Inc., a development stage company in oral health care.
Dr. Greenspan has co-authored over 30 peer reviewed publications in the field of biomaterials
and holds 26 patents in the field. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Biomedical
Materials Research, Materials Letters, and is associate editor for the American Ceramic
Society. He also holds an adjunct faculty position in the Department of Materials Science
and Engineering at the University of Florida.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Greenspan earned a bachelor’s degree in glass science from Alfred
University and a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of Florida.

Karl H. Koschatzky, Ph.D., President, International
Dr. Karl Koschatzky is the president of international operations for RTI Biologics’
German subsidiary, Tutogen Medical GmbH. He joined Tutogen in 1993 as the technical director
of international operations. Subsequently, Dr. Koschatzky served in many capacities with
the company, including the planning and implementation of U.S. operations, leading
research and development, and most recently, serving as general manager of German operations. For
the 11 years prior to Tutogen, Dr. Koschatzky served as manager of operations, wound care unit,
Pfrimmer-Viggo GmbH and scientific manager, wound care business, Lyofil Pfrimmer GmbH.
In his role at RTI Biologics, Dr. Koschatzky oversees all aspects of the company’s international
operations based in Neunkirchen, Germany.
Dr. Koschatzky received his Ph.D. from the University of Erlangen-Nurnberg and Diplom-Chemist.

Lennox K. Archibald, M.D., FRCP, DTM&H, Medical Director
Dr. Lenny Archibald was named medical director in January 2003. Prior to joining the
company, he served the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for seven years,
most recently as acting medical director of the Epidemic Information Exchange and medical
epidemiologist in the National Center for Infectious Diseases. His investigation on
Clostridium-associated infection related to allograft was published in The New England Journal
of Medicine in June 2004 and in Clinical Infectious Diseases in July 2005.
Previous to joining the CDC, Dr. Archibald completed infectious disease and microbiology
fellowships at Duke University. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, his
medical degree from University College Hospital in London, his doctorate from the University
of London and completed postgraduate training in internal and tropical medicine in London,
Oxford and Liverpool. In October 2003, Dr. Archibald was named a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.

Beverly Bliss, Vice President, RTI Donor Services
Beverly Bliss joined RTI as the executive director of donor services in February 2005 before
becoming vice president of RTI Donor Services in August 2005. She oversees all RTI Donor
Services recovery operations, family services, the call center and agency support activities.
Prior to RTI, Bliss served the American Red Cross for 25 years. In January 2005, she was part
of the team responsible for divesting the Tissue Services business unit from the American Red Cross.
Bliss holds bachelors’ degrees in biology and health facilities management from Maryville
University and a master’s degree in business administration from Webster University. She is a
founding member of the Gift of Life Trust fund of South Carolina and has been an active
member of the U.S. organ and tissue donation community since 1988.
